Research Courses

Although Cal Poly Pomona was not a NIH 1 Institution, it still encouraged biological research. It was strong in field research, but also in providing labs for wet lab research. In fact, in the early years of LT’s tenure, they required an undergraduate research thesis of all students before they could earn their B.S. degree. This Bio Dept. also required many more laboratory units for a B.S. than many other competing universities and departments. Even after finding that there were too few faculty to appropriately advise as many Senior Projects needed as the biology UG population burgeoned, they continued with UG research using these courses.
