Given the very wide range of disciplines, domains, scales, and tools characteristic of systems science and systems engineering, it is not surprising that there are many debates that continue on important aspects that are not yet resolved. This section attempts to apply any insights of our systems theory work to informing these debates. One of the most fundamental issues involves the differences between natural systems and human systems.
