In this section, I collect phrases of my own and others that capture a truism, insight, or fact that has the nature of an aphorism. To me aphorisms are concise statements of an important aspect of life. They are inversely proportional to the number of words used to express them. That is, very few words deliver a stunning or key perception or inspiration. In a way they are a lot like music lyrics or poetry. The contrast between the strength of the epiphany and the few words to deliver it is especially striking. Every person should have a collection of their own most treasured aphorisms memorized to give to others and to remind oneself of the depth of life and culture. In truth, the many sayings of the Buddha, Jesus Christ, Boddhisatva’s, could all be included here.
